Assessment Steps
Step one: Prerequisites
Once we have agreed on a mutually convenient date for the assessment and I have received your deposit, you will receive an email containing some important information. The email will include details on what you will need to do prior to the assessment and what you will need to bring on the day.
There will be a parent or carer questionnaire, as well as one for your child’s school to complete. You will also need to complete a visual screening difficulties questionnaire. It is mandatory that these are completed and returned, prior to the assessment.
Step two: The assessment
The assessments can last 3 or more hours depending on the student. The tests that used will also depend on the child’s needs, but will include tests of:
Verbal ability
Visual or non-verbal ability
Processing speed
Working memory
Phonological memory
Phonological awareness
Reading (to include comprehension, fluency, speed and accuracy)
Writing
Spelling
Handwriting speed
Tests of Mathematical ability
Step three: Feedback
Following the assessments, we produce a written report. This will explain your child’s test scores and provide recommendations for support. This will be emailed to you within three weeks of your child’s assessment.
Once you have had a chance to read through the report, you may then arrange a 30-minute telephone consultation or a face-to-face meeting to answer any questions that you may have.
